AI CLE and CPD Courses for Lawyers

Generative AI now appears in most bar associations' competence guidance, and a growing number of lawyers want their AI training to count toward annual CLE, MCLE or CPD obligations. The programs below are the ones in our directory that publish accredited credit hours.

Accreditation is jurisdiction-specific. California MCLE credit from Stanford or Berkeley may be accepted through reciprocity elsewhere, Canadian CPD hours apply to Ontario and British Columbia, and the Law Society certificate maps to SRA competences in England and Wales. Confirm with your own regulator before relying on any course for credit.

Questions

AI CLE and CPD Courses for Lawyers: FAQ

Which states require AI-specific CLE?

Requirements are changing quickly. Most states fold AI into existing technology-competence or ethics requirements rather than mandating AI-specific hours; check your state bar's current rules. Ethics-classified AI programs such as the ABA's are the most broadly accepted.

How many CLE credits can I earn from an AI course?

Between one and twelve in this directory: one ethics hour from the ABA, 6.5 from Berkeley, up to 8 from Stanford or PLI, and 11.75 CPD hours from Osgoode.

Does the AI Lab for Lawyers offer CLE credit?

It provides a certificate of completion rather than pre-approved CLE credit. Many jurisdictions allow self-reported credit for relevant professional education; check whether yours does.
